To Kent Corley and all of the staff at the Blood Bank of the Redwoods,
We want to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
As we look back over the past two years, we are in awe of how far Jim has come in his recovery.
He is walking completely on his own, no more cane. His eyesight continues to improve and we are excited to say he is driving again. He has been released to go back to his job full time in the New Year and he is getting physically stronger everyday. As part of his PT routine, he snow blows the driveway, shovels two decks and hauls in arm loads of wood up many stairs each day. “Our Miracle Man” never gives up and he inspires us everyday.
Each and every day is a blessing to us and as we celebrate another holiday season together, we would like to thank all of you for working so hard and for providing the gift of life, blood, to people like us. We will be eternally grateful.
Merry Christmas and we wish you all the best in the New Year.
With fond regards,
Jim and Lindy Wilson

Miracle Man Blood Drive Celebrates Accident Victim’s Survival and Blood Donors Who Helped Him
On Saturday September 6th, 2008 Blood Bank of the Redwoods held the second annual Miracle Man Blood Drive in honor of Jim Wilson, whose doctors and nurses have endearingly dubbed the “Miracle Man”. His injuries were so severe they gave him a zero percent chance to survive after a van collided with him while riding his motorcycle through Lake County two years ago.
Jim, 48 years old, received 52 units of blood the first hour he was at the hospital; all told he ultimately received 182 units of blood and has had 22 surgeries since his accident.
There are many people responsible for his survival. The most under recognized, though, are all the blood donors who gave blood with Blood Bank of the Redwoods in early September of 2006. “Jim Wilson’s story vividly illustrates the importance of these unsung heroes, the blood donors,” said Kent Corley, spokesman for Blood Bank of the Redwoods. “Local patients are using blood everyday, however, Jim’s case is the most extreme we have ever seen.”
“Everything had to go perfectly to save his life. And of course blood had to be on the shelves in advance of the accident, so I want to give an extra special thanks to all the blood donors who were a part of this miracle and the miracles that happen everyday,” said Kent Corley.
The Miracle Man Blood Drive is a celebration that Blood Bank of the Redwoods hopes will inspire new donors to give the gift of life as well as bring out regular blood donors who thanklessly supply blood for the rest of the community.
