Blood Bank of the Redwoods wins 2 Telly Awards for new Generation Red video
Santa Rosa, CA (June 24, 2010) Blood Bank of the Redwoods, celebrating its 61st year of continuous operation in the San Francisco North Bay, is pleased to announce it has received two Telly Awards for its latest video Generation Red.
The Telly Awards honor the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web. Since 1978, its mission has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity. The 30th Annual Telly Awards received more than 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.
The Silver Telly Council, the judging and oversight body, is comprised of top industry professionals that are past winners of a Silver Telly, its highest honor. The 2010 entries came from the finest ad agencies, production companies, TV stations, cable companies, interactive agencies and corporations in the world. It is a remarkable achievement to be selected for recognition.
Generation Red is a hip, stylish, and inspiring video aimed at a younger audience. “I had a very specific goal with this video,” commented Kent Corley, Public Relations Manager for Blood Bank of the Redwoods. “The time we spent on the script and matching the shot list with the script really paid off. Every shot was original, no stock photography, and the result is a compelling piece that exudes Northern California and showcases our blood donors and our blood recipients.”
“We entered the video in two categories; the Nonprofit video category and the Editing category,” said Corley. “We received the Telly’s highest honor with a Silver Telly for Editing and its second highest honor a bronze in the Nonprofit category. The validation of our work is wonderful. Now we need to take it out to the community and cultivate more blood donors.”
In 2007 Blood Bank of the Redwoods received a Telly for its first video, Casey’s Story. BBR also received a Communicator Award for it's website www.bbr.org in 2009 and another Communicator Award for the 2010 Winter/Spring Newsletter from the International Academy of the Visual Arts.
