 “I started performing the BBR radio spots because I had cancer and for a while I couldn’t donate blood. I wanted to help out any way I could. I still missed being able to donate blood though, so I kept asking, and you know what? I can donate again. So if you thought you couldn’t donate, keep asking because chances are, you’ll be able to donate lifesaving blood again too.”
Bret also received BBR’ first-ever Chairman’s Choice Award. The award is given to an individual who has demonstrated exemplary, extraordinary, tireless, and/or some particular unmatched achievement on behalf of the organization. Bret Martin has become the blood center’s greatest advocate and a living, walking advertisement for blood donation.

Energized with a new found realization that he could help other patients by sharing his cancer adventure through song and the spoken word, Bret has created this remarkably poignant, often humorous, audio CD especially for cancer patients and their loved ones.
Marek J. Bozdech M.D. practices hematology and oncology in Santa Rosa, CA. after starting marrow transplant programs at the University of Wisconsin and University of California, San Francisco. He enjoys hiking in the Sierras, skiing and reading.

BBR's Miracle Man
 Blood Bank of the Redwoods' Miracle Man is Jim Wilson, who used 182 units of blood after a tragic accident. As a result of his miraculous recovery BBR aims to collect a symbolic 182 units of blood each year at a special blood drive in his honor.
